Ben Lomond munro run

Challenge: Run to the summit of Ben Lomond

Details:  Running/ hiking up Ben Lomond takes you up a 975m (3,200ft) ascent over an 11km (7mi) route. Info on hike. It’s an easy path to follow so not much navigation needed. From the car park, go through the visitor cabin thing (loos there), and up the path to the left (Hill Route I think it was called). Once on the summit, you can either come back down that route, or go over the top and drop down the other side to do a loop. Running most of the journey it took me 2.5 hours round trip.

Where? Ben Lomond, Scotland. The trail starts at the carpark at Rowardenan (bring change for the parking metre) on the East Coast of Loch Lomond.

Transport? Fly to Glasgow, then a 45 minute drive from the airport and you’ll be on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

Accommodation? There are several youth hostels/ BnBs around Ben Lomond so book in for one of those.

When? Summer months better for weather, but it is

Bring? Trail running shoes, sweat licking clothes. Weather can change quickly up there so take a back pack with some layers in. Also coins for the parking meter at the start of the trail

Food & drink? Water and snacks for the run/ hike.

Cost? The run/ hike doesn’t cost anything but getting there does.
